Arriving in Egypt

24/05/08: Oh the bliss of a free day to relax by the enormous pool. Finding a place to swim in Doha was hard work unless you were a club member. Twice Julie and I pretended to be members of a very beautiful 5 star resort but on the 2nd visit got caught!! (Kerry refused to come along but he used to walk through the grounds in the evening with me) We did manage to find a small gym and pool nearby that we could pay to go to which was a god send in the heat. But this was a pool at our disposal and we could legitimately swim - we had a late lunch in the Pataria Pergola.

At the tour meeting that evening we had to scan hard for people our age - most were from 20-30 years - oh well we felt young at heart. That night we had a Nile cruise and dinner - with a Belly Dancer and spinning man - he was awesome, she went on too long.

Kerry: Tour meeting a little scary as we find ourselves amongst 118 very youthful intrepid travellers. As the tour progresses and we get to meet and party with these guys our concerns turn out to be totally unfounded. Only one couple are left to their own devices - the American guy onto his third marriage (this one by Internet) with a West Indian / English woman. They are very much into each other and welcome to that!
