A Day at the Pryamids

We visited the older step pyramids first (see behind Kerry) at Sukara. On the way we passed carpet schools where the poor rural kids spend half a day and the families get the proceeds. Supposedly they should be enrolled at school the other half of the day.
Next came the mighty Giza pyramids - I'm on a camel in front of 'The Great Pyramid" - Kerry and I were involved in a scam that Rusha our tour guide had supposedly warned us of. One hawker takes Kerry off to photograph him with his camel, another couple take me off - "Just put your foot here for a photo" then the pushed me up! John and Robyn were following and demanding he let me down but he was adamant that I had to pay first - the same was happening to Kerry but they didn't succeed in getting him on the camel! I paid the hawkers off much to Kerry's disgust. Man was I hot and bothered after that - it took a bit of the shine off a place I had always wanted to see.
Rusha told us a lot about the history of the Kings and their burial pyramids throughout the day - we quickly began to realise the value of having such a knowledgeable tour guide. She has a 4 year Egyptology degree and is passionate about the history of Egypt.
